Digital Inclusion
Together with coffee, the future at the touch of a finger
Encouraging and investing in social responsibility projects is another differential advantage for Brazilian coffee exporters, compared to their global competitors. Comexim is an active participant in the communities where it has operations, and supports the Digital Inclusion School Project ’Children of Coffee at School,’ developed by CECAFÉ, which has been creating a variety of works linked to sustainability and social responsibility for 11 years. In addition to the project mentioned above, this partnership also supports the program “Informed Producer”. Through this work, 104 computer rooms have been set up in rural communities, giving children and young people access to technology and information. This helps to increase attendance at schools that serve 35 thousand students in the coffee growing areas that benefit from this initiative. Some concrete examples of this project are the computer rooms at the Hor´cio Narcisio Góes State School, inaugurated on April 18, 2006, and the Procópio José Ferreira Municipal School, inaugurated on December 20, 2007, both in Ouro Fino (MG); as well as at Educandário Ulisses Guimarães, inaugurated on December 1, 2006 in the municipality of Bonito (BA). This is how you write the future using your fingertips.
